Just two months after revamping the Americas Incentive, Business Travel, and Meetings Exhibition (AIBTM) with a new name and format, Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE) has done the same thing with another of its meetings-industry trade shows -- the Gulf Incentive, Business Travel, and Meetings Exhibition (GIBTM) -- it announced today.

Effective next year, GIBTM will be known as IBTM Arabia, a new name that will be matched with a new, closed-door event format, as well as new dates and a new venue: While GIBTM traditionally has taken place in March at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, IBTM Arabia 2015 will take place Feb. 10-12 at Abu Dhabi's St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.

"The new concept is a result of the commentary fed back to us from key industry stakeholders, including those from the private and public sectors, as well as other professional MICE organizations," IBTM Arabia Exhibition Manager Lois Wilcox said in a statement.

Based on RTE surveys showing that exhibitors want to prioritize time with premium meeting buyers, but in the most cost-effective fashion, the show's new format will feature an all-inclusive pricing structure for exhibitors and a one-to-one ratio of hosted buyers and suppliers.

"Foremost in this transformation is that IBTM Arabia will be an all-inclusive solution where an innovative meeting pod design customized with the exhibitor's corporate branding will give privacy to meetings between hosted buyers and exhibitors," Wilcox explained. "Exhibitors only pay one price and their meeting pod will be ready upon their arrival so that they can go straight into business meetings. Everything is included in the price; no additional stand costs, freight, or build costs."

IBTM Arabia will host 200 exhibitors and 200 hosted buyers who will be matched to one another using online appointment-scheduling software.

"That results in up to 30 highly relevant appointments for each exhibitor, 6,000 in total across the event," concluded Wilcox, who said the chief advantage of the new format is that it equalizes exhibitors. "One of the integral changes is that we have now effectively leveled the playing field. All exhibitors now have an equivalent amount of floor space and their meeting pod is exactly the same price, size, and design, with the exception of their respective corporate branding."
