magazine August 2006CYA With CYEwww.visitflorida.comAs Florida makes its way through another hurricane season, Visit Florida, the state's official tourism marketing agency, has extended its complimentary Cover Your Event hurricane insurance through 2007. Meeting planners submit an online form to have their event covered; certain restrictions apply, including when and where the event will be rescheduled, the fact that the cancellation must be because of a named hurricane, and the timing of the original event (it must be scheduled between August and October). The registration form includes all pertinent details for the event, which is then submitted to Visit Florida's insurance carrier for processing; the insurance carrier will respond directly to planners within five to seven business days.
Group Workwww.insuremygroup.comInsureMyGroup.com is a group travel insurance comparison site, where planners can compare coverage from various providers. The quote page asks planners to describe their group type (association/club/religious, business/incentive, family, mission, student, other), then subdivide the group by age, including the number of travelers and cost per person for each age block (0-34, 35-60, 61-70, 71-75, 76-80, 81+). For groups of less than 10, InsureMyGroup's sister site,
InsureMyTrip.com, offers similar services. InsureMyGroup also offers medical and accidental death and dismemberment plans.
Centralize Your Effortswww.travelinsurancecenter.comTravelInsuranceCenter.com offers some standard packages as well as customized offerings that meet the needs of different groups—for example, if your daredevil attendees need extreme sport coverage. This site also includes information to help planners understand different types of coverage, and answers some frequently asked insurance-related questions (What if my travel supplier declares bankruptcy?). Ten providers have partnered with TravelInsuranceCenter.com, and the site allows visitors to compare plans side-by-side in a detailed table, to figure out which package will best meet their needs.
