In Case of Disaster, Your E-Mail Will Survive

This month, the San Diego Convention Center selected Teneros Application Continuity Appliances for high availability assurance and disaster recovery of its Microsoft Exchange. With this system, e-mails with clients and vendors will be safe in the event of a technology failure or a natural or man-made disaster.

The center, which opened in 1989, has generated nearly $15.2 billion in economic benefit and over $309.8 million in tax revenues to the region. In 2007, it hosted more than 220 events, generating approximately 8,000 jobs.

To assure their record of revenue generation for the region, the Convention Center must consistently deliver service excellence. "We cannot afford to miss any communication with our clients," said Lynn Ewing, SDCC's director of information systems. Ewing manages the center's MS Exchange server, which supports 300 employees, many of whom depend on mobile devices running e-mail that is extremely time-sensitive for successful convention center operation and activities.

"The ROI of the Teneros solution is obvious," said Ewing. "If a client needed a response from us by 3 p.m., and our e-mail goes down, we could lose millions of dollars of economic impact for San Diego."
