Meeting planners should not just prepare for change, but cheerfully embrace it. That is one of the lessons discussed by Dr. Gary Bradt, a speaker, clinical psychologist, and leadership consultant, during his well-received presentation at this year's Destination Caribbean, which took place from August 21-24 at The Ritz-Carlton Aruba.
In the talk, sponsored by The Goodman Speakers Bureau, Bradt outlined four factors driving change -- government regulation, technology, consolidation, and globalization -- as well as eight strategies for managing change. These included "Change Your Results, Change How You Think," "Create a To-Who List" (of people to connect with or reconnect with), and "Combine a Passionate Vision with Patience and Persistence."
In the video below, Bradt discusses how factors driving change relate specifically to the meetings industry, as well as how rock-solid values can help planners weather even the most stormy changes.
