Unsocial App Brings Location-Based Networking to Conferences

Meeting planners looking for ways to enhance their offline events with online solutions have a new option: A new mobile app, called Unsocial, offers location-based networking that can be utilized at meetings and conventions.

Available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, Unsocial works by allowing meeting attendees to discover business contacts based on proximity — on the trade show floor, for instance, or in education sessions — and shared business interests. They can then exchange information with new contacts, or connect to them from within the app via instant message or phone call.

Meanwhile, it also includes features that attendees can use to access updated event logistics, such as the meeting agenda, speaker bios, site maps, session schedules, Facebook and Twitter streams, and real-time event notifications.

"Unsocial significantly augments venue and event branding and marketing capabilities by providing a unique way to directly connect to attendees with personalized push notifications in real time — creating a 'social event bubble' that encompasses all event information, online content and networking capabilities," Unsocial explains.
