Custom mobile apps are a great way to engage, inform and entertain meeting attendees. Unfortunately, they're often cost-prohibitive for all but the largest association and corporate groups.
Because it wants to change that, a Dutch company called twoppy has introduced a free online mobile event guide service that allows meeting planners and event organizers to quickly and affordably create their own conference apps.
"More and more people are using their mobile phone in a smart way, and using apps is becoming second nature," reads a company press release. "Already, over 50 percent of the population is in possession of a smartphone. Mobile browsing on the Internet is growing rapidly, but there is nothing more annoying than searching for the right information on a website which is designed for computers. Thanks to twoppy you can create a mobile-friendly conference guide in minutes."
Using twoppy, meeting planners can create an account, then access a user-friendly control panel through which they submit all relevant event information, such as exhibitor information, agendas, speaker bios and maps. Basic functionality is free, or planners can upgrade to purchase advanced features, such as app branding, sponsor pages and analytics tools. Once event information is loaded, planners simply hit "publish" in order to generate their app, which is available for complimentary download by attendees through a custom URL.
Says the company, "With the advent of twoppy, not only large annual world conferences with a correspondingly large budget can offer a mobile guilde, but all conferences can."
