Travelocity Business Taps Worktopia for Meetings Booking Solution

Corporate travel management company Travelocity Business has entered into an agreement with meetings technology provider Worktopia, which will use its signature Universal Meeting Solution (UMS) to power Travelocity Business' new online meeting booking tool, it announced today.

Initially, Travelocity Business will provide access to Worktopia's UMS—which automates the process of searching for and booking function space and overnight group accommodations for small off-site meetings—via a team of trained customer service professionals. Eventually, however, it will also offer access through a licensed self-service tool.

"Our relationship with Travelocity Business represents another important industry milestone in the online migration of real-time meeting management, in much the same way other core categories of business travel have moved online and away from manual processes," Worktopia CEO John Arenas said in a statement. "The efficiency of automated booking means immediate opportunities for savings and control for customers and market share shift for suppliers who embrace it."

In addition to its automated booking tools, Travelocity Business plans to take advantage of the UMS' reporting and expense tracking features to help its clients control meetings spend.
