When Frommer's released its list of the top 10 smartphone apps for travelers we decided to give you our take on each of these handy little programs, along with some stories to help you manage your meetings and events digitally.

1. TripAdvisor
With apps for both iOS devices and Android smartphones, TripAdvisor's vast database of candid hotel reviews is now available at your fingertips.

2. Skype
Who wants to deal with international calls these days? Skype comes to the rescue with easy-to-use apps for both the Android market and Apple's iPhone.

3. TripIt
TripIt, an organizer for your flights, hotel reservations, and rental cars that automatically syncs with several booking engines, is now available on Android as well as iPhone.

4. Yelp
This perennially popular app helps you find the best restaurants and bars in any city, not to mention florists, spas, and other such necessities. Versions are available for nearly all smartphone operating systems.

5. AroundMe
This app, available for iOS devices and Android smartphones, does just what it says -- shows you what's around you, based on GPS autolocation.

6. OffMaps
This app for iOS devices allows you to download maps from all over the world to your device and then view them offline.

7. Urbanspoon
This app's quirky "slot machine" interface makes picking a restaurant more fun than ever. It's available for Android smartphones and iOS devices, as well as Blackberry and the Kindle Fire.

8. OpenTable
Need a reservation? Why call when you can click. The OpenTable restaurant reservation app is available for Blackberry, iOS, and Android mobile devices.

9. iTrans
This iPhone app helps users navigate public transportation in cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C.

10. SeatGuru
You no longer need your computer to scope out a seat for a flight -- do it right at the check-in kiosk with this app for iOS devices.
