During the first quarter of 2011, meetings technology company StarCite saw a 52 percent increase in corporate meetings requests flowing through its proprietary online marketplace, as well as a 68 percent increase in total room night volume, it announced last week.
"Momentum for strategic meetings management is building from companies across the board, from those with mid-sized to massive meetings programs," said StarCite CEO Greg Dukat. "Companies are looking to drive greater value from every dollar they invest in meetings and events while operating their meetings programs more efficiently. We can't wait to see what the rest of 2011 will bring."
Further demonstrating the growth of strategic meetings management among corporate meeting planners, StarCite said its revenues have grown by 191 percent during the last five years — growth that it expects to continue due to several recently announced offerings, including a set of new Supplier Marketplace programs for hotels, as well as Nexus, its new cloud-based meetings management platform.
"We're thrilled with the reception for these innovations," Dukat said. "By bringing meetings management into 'the cloud' through Nexus, we're offering the most customizable and flexible option for meetings management available. We will keep pushing the envelope as we look to make it even easier for companies to adopt meetings management and make the most of their investment in connecting people to get business done."
