Meetings technology company StarCite has been awarded a U.S. patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its attendee management and enterprise event marketing platform, it announced this week.
Titled "System and Method for Enterprise Event Marketing and Management Automation," the patent—U.S. Patent No. 7,523,385—gives StarCite exclusive rights to its automated attendee registration and management technology solution, which it describes as a "core element" of its suite of strategic meetings management technologies.
The newly patented technology streamlines the process of managing attendees at corporate meetings, which once required a significant amount of manual administration and data collection, according to StarCite. Using the technology, meeting planners can set up customizable meeting registration pages, communicate with meeting attendees and capture attendee data in an automated database.
"We're energized by this development, which further underscores our position as the proven leader in meetings management technology and highlights the creativity and innovation that are central to the StarCite approach," StarCite CEO Greg Dukat said in a statement. "The issuance of this patent was an important milestone in an already successful 2009 for StarCite, a year in which StarCite also achieved new records for sales bookings and customer program expansions."
