Skype, which introduced five-way group video calling in May, has released a new version of Skype 5.0 beta for Windows that ups the ante with 10-way group video calling, it announced on its blog this month.
Available for complimentary download, Skype 5.0 Beta 2 for Windows also includes a refreshed user interface and automatic call recovery, which automatically re-connects Skype calls that are interrupted due to network problems. The standout feature, however, is the 10-way group video calling, which according to Skype blogger Peter Parkes lets you "bring even more of your family, friends or business together, even if you're cities or continents apart."
Although the company stresses that Beta 2 is still a beta version — and therefore likely to experience some stability issues — the upgrade makes it possible for companies to use Skype for even larger virtual meetings with remote employees, partners and clients.
