Planners Embrace New Trade Show Tool at ASAE's Springtime Expo

At its annual Springtime Expo, which took place May 14-15 in Washington, D.C., the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) introduced a new planning tool for meeting planners, it announced today.

Called “Map Your Day,” the tool allowed planners to select which companies they wanted to visit on the trade show floor, then produced for them a customized list of those companies in chronological order, with a map of their location.

A total of 150 planners used the new tool and combined made 2,600 bookmarks. Out of 368 exhibiting companies, 340 received at least one bookmark, according to ASAE.

Other highlights from this year’s Springtime Expo included a new one-and-a-half-day “Meetings & Event Technology Boot Camp” that taught attendees how to use social media, mobile and digital technology to enhance meetings and events; “Deep Dive” education sessions during which meeting planners and exhibitors shared challenges, ideas and success on a variety of industry topics; and a closing general session called “Meetings Ignite,” which featured seven different presentations in rapid succession.

“Attendees enjoyed the education sessions because they learned new strategies and tactics they could take back and implement into their organization,” ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham IV said in a statement. “The Expo floor was packed with engaging conversations, the exhibitors enjoyed networking with all the buyers and meeting planners discovered new tools they could use for their future meetings.”

A total of 1,475 people and 1,432 exhibiting personnel attended this year’s Springtime Expo. Next year’s event takes place April 9, 2015.
