Newmarket Partners with Worktopia to Connect Small Meeting Planners With Suppliers

Worktopia has joined Newmarket International as the latest partner for MeetingBroker, its Web-based lead management solution for meeting planners. By including Worktopia, a global reservation system for meetings of fewer than 100 people, Newmarket will be better able to service customers organizing smaller, simpler events.

"Worktopia is a great addition to our portfolio of MeetingBroker channel partners available to our hospitality customers," Marty Denning, Newmarket's business development director, said in a statement. "Worktopia is giving our customers access to those meeting planners and corporate buyers wanting to book simple meetings fast. Since data shows that these small meetings typically are booked with less lead time, Worktopia also helps market unsold space."

With MeetingBroker, meetings professionals can connect directly to participating hotels in order to search for and book meeting space online. Currently, the service sends out 30,000 RFPs from meeting planners each month, representing more than $240 million in new business for subscribing hospitality providers.

With the addition of Worktopia's network, hotels will be able to directly access the valuable small meetings market online. That segment, it says—meetings with fewer than 50 attendees—makes up an estimated two-thirds of the meetings market and contributes to the industry approximately $24 billion in meetings spending every year.
