Less than a week after introducing its own iPhone app, Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has announced that it will lead the development of mobile apps for the IMEX Group, producers of the original IMEX in Frankfurt and the new IMEX America show in Las Vegas.
According to MPI, which is a strategic partner with IMEX America, the new IMEX apps will "expand content and marketplace access for attendees before, during and after the events."
Having successfully developed and launched apps for its 2010 events, MPI announced last week that it had launched a new iPhone app — versions of which are forthcoming for BlackBerry and Android — designed to enhance access to MPI directories and content.
Building on that release — as well as its recent FutureWatch 2011 report, in which it concluded that "there is wide agreement that a tightly integrated application or a highly advanced multi‐purpose mobile app will become a part of all large meetings and events in the near future" — MPI will collaborate with its development partner, QuickMobile, to design and launch IMEX apps in advance of both shows: IMEX will take place May 24-26 in Frankfurt while IMEX America will take place Oct. 10-13 in Las Vegas.
