IAEE to Host First Virtual Event at This Week's Mid-Year Meeting

For the first time ever, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) will produce and deliver a virtual event component at the IAEE Mid-Year Meeting, taking place this week in Boston, it announced last week.

Select portions of the meeting, taking place today through Wednesday, will be broadcast online on a virtual platform hosted by virtual events provider ON24. Featuring both live and recorded content, the Internet broadcast will be supported onsite by SmartSource Computer & Audio Visual Rentals of Hauppauge, N.Y.

"Supporting our mission of bringing buyers and sellers together to conduct business, we believe that the virtual element supports the face-to-face event, adding a new option for attendees to engage not only with the association, but with other live and virtual attendees, as well," IAEE President Steven Hacker, CAE, said in a statement. "We are pleased to work with these partners' new and dynamic technologies to provide attendees with a new option for professional learning."

According to IAEE, the Mid-Year Meeting's new virtual component helps it reach event organizers and planners who would like to attend the meeting, but can't because of budget constraints or international visa issues.

Said ON24 CMO Denise Persson, "The rich ON24 virtual experience is a perfect companion to IAEE's in-person meeting and provides a cost-effective, efficient way to take marketing and communication programs to the next level."
