CrowdCompass Launches DIY App Solution for Corporate, Association Events

Mobile apps used to be cutting-edge. Now, they’re commonplace. As easy as they are for meeting attendees to find, download and use, however, creating them remains a challenge for even the most progressive meeting professionals.

For that reason, CrowdCompass, the conference app division of meetings technology company Cvent, has developed a new app development platform that association and corporate meeting planners can use to create their own event-specific mobile apps — without special skills or prior experience.

“Mobile apps are becoming essential for corporate events,” says Brian Ludwig, vice president of sales, Cvent. “Virtually everyone attending a corporate event or trade show has a mobile device, and they are likely to have it with them at all times and to rely on it for information. There is a tremendous untapped market in native mobile apps that can deliver an immersive experience at corporate events, and we are very optimistic about the opportunity to expand our market leadership position.”

Called Event Center, the new CrowdCompass platform focuses on native apps that are downloaded and used on the user’s mobile device, unlike web-based apps, which are hosted and accessed via the Internet. Using it, meeting planners can:

• Add multiple events to a single app;
• Brand their app with customized themes, icons and colors;
• Get detailed reports on app metrics; and
• Create interactive venue maps with key points of interest.

Meanwhile, attendees using planners’ final, published apps can access interactive features such as social networking and scheduling.
