American Express, Cvent to Create Meetings Management Tools

American Express Meetings & Events has teamed up with meetings technology company Cvent to create what it describes as an "integrated solution for the management of meetings and events," it announced this week.

"We believe that Cvent joining forces with American Express Meetings & Events is a game-changer for the industry," said Chuck Ghoorah, co-founder and executive vice president, sales and marketing, Cvent. "By marrying their service offering with our comprehensive and easy-to-use online technology, we will help our clients save time and money through both an improved user experience and access to more insightful information, as well as through increased adoption. With more scale, clients can gain greater overall flexibility while maintaining the same high-quality service and support."

American Express Meetings & Events already uses Cvent's Supplier Network to source meeting venues. As part of the companies' expanded relationship, however, Cvent will now develop a suite of customized meetings management tools for American Express clients, starting with a meeting planning web portal.

Launching in November, the portal will include such features as a centralized calendar; a "Meeting Requestor" tool to help automate meetings sourcing; and a "Request History" tool that provides a database of past meeting requests. American Express Meetings & Events clients also will have limited-time access to Cvent's "Meeting Cost Estimator" tool and permanent access to its event-specific mobile applications, which give meeting attendees on-the-go access to event schedules, venue floor plans and social networking.
