Planners weary of weather and event-insurance cost

Nearly 60 percent of meeting planners usually try to steer clear of specific destinations at times of year when they are likely to encounter bad weather, according to a MeetingNews survey of 400 planners.
Despite nearly one-third of respondents reporting that they had been affected by weather in the past, and many who had escaped cancellations calling themselves “lucky,” a mere 12 percent said they purchase event insurance to cover expenses if bad weather interrupts attendee travel. Even among the 141 association planners in the survey, only 25 percent said they purchased insurance, despite their tendency to plan larger events. Click here
