National Conference Center Releases 'Future of Meetings' Whitepaper

The National Conference Center in Leesburg, Va., has released a new whitepaper in its quarterly "Meeting Discoveries" whitepaper series, it announced this week. Titled "The Future of the Meetings Industry: Why Certain Conference Innovators Are Winning," the new whitepaper includes an in-depth look at several topics, including:

• What persuades people to attend a conference;
• How conferences are changing to adapt to the needs and demands of attendees;
• Why space and design are crucial for collaboration and learning; and
• What conference innovators predict in the long term.

The whitepaper was written to "continue to educate other professionals in the meetings industry on innovative trends and how to keep their attendees satisfied and engaged," said Sarah Vining, marketing manager at The National Conference Center, who wrote the whitepaper with contributing research from Adrian Segar, Ph.D., of Conferences That Work; Tom Condon of Steelcase; and Lennie Scott-Webber, Ph.D., also of Steelcase. "It is meant to change some long-held concepts about meetings and conferences and to increase attendance and participation at conferences, particularly in this difficult rough economy."
