CEOs Express 'Cautious Optimism' During EIBTM CEO Summit

Sixty meetings industry CEOs attended the CEO Summit last week at EIBTM in Barcelona, where they concluded that there is "huge potential" for the industry in post-recession growth, that "the global economy is improving" and that people are "cautiously optimistic," EIBTM announced yesterday.

This year's CEO Summit included three presentations, the first of which featured U.K. economist Professor Dominic Swords, who spoke about the economic recovery and surveyed CEOs about their economic expectations, finding that business confidence had improved during the last year for 75 percent of those in attendance.

Also speaking at the summit were Felix Haas, CEO of Amiando, who spoke about the impact of social media on meetings, and Mark Wright, chairman of Simple Experience, who spoke about the power of live events, as well as the importance of event marketing ROI.

"The immediate feedback from today has been very generous and considered," said EIBTM CEO Chair Jeremy Garbett, summing up the event. "The invited audience of CEOs were engaged throughout and contributed hugely to the debate and exchanges. I am delighted with the event and it provides a brilliant platform for next year's summit at EIBTM."
