PCMA Announces 2012 Professional Achievement Honorees

During the 2012 Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Education Foundation Dinner, taking place May 2, 2012, in Washington, D.C., PCMA will honor meeting professionals John Lisack Jr., George Aguel and Amanda K. Cecil, Ph.D., it announced yesterday.

Lisack, who is executive director of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), will be honored as this year's Meeting Professional Honoree for his more than 35 years of contributions to the meetings industry as an association professional. Lisack has served on several convention and visitors bureau boards and is past chairman of the PCMA board.

Aguel, who is senior vice president of the Walt Disney Company, will be honored as this year's Supplier Partner Honoree. Currently, Aguel recently served as chairman of Visit Orlando and currently serves on the U.S. Travel Association's Meetings, Incentives and Tradeshow Council. According to PCMA, he was chosen because of his "creative vision and continued dedication to the meetings industry."

Finally, Cecil, a meetings educator who is in her 10th year on Indiana University's Tourism, Convention and Event Management faculty, will be honored as this year's Educator Honoree. She created the Instructor's Resource manual for the fifth edition of PCMA's Professional Meeting Management textbook and also created study materials for the PCMA Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Online Prep Course, which is the only only online course endorsed by the Convention Industry Council (CIC).
