Event management and communications company Unicomm LLC has announced the launch of the Green Travel Summit, which it says will be the first fully dedicated forum focusing on green travel strategies for the corporate meetings market. The event, which will take place March 23-24, 2009, in Newport Beach, Calif., will feature American Express Business Travel as its presenting sponsor alongside the National Business Travel Association (NBTA) and the Association of Travel Marketing Executives (ATME), its association sponsors.
"Organizations are realizing that reducing their carbon footprint can help them reduce their travel expenses and improve their bottom line," said Frank Schnur, vice president of consulting for American Express Business Travel Advisory Services. "We hope everyone will join us for this open exchange and sharing of the latest technologies, tools and approaches, because by working together, we can have a greater impact on our industry."
As presenting sponsor of the Green Travel Summit, American Express Business Travel will help create content for the event, which will include discussion-in-the-round plenary sessions as well as interactive workshops intended to highlight green travel best practices. Topics will include:
• How to measure green efficiencies and show real ROI
• Green meeting guidelines and checklists
• How to leverage green travel initiatives with employees and other stakeholders
• Carbon offsets
• Virtual meetings and the green business travel and meetings plan
