This year's IMEX in Frankfurt trade show -- taking place May 19-21 in Frankfurt, Germany -- will host approximately 100 students from eight countries for the IMEX-MPI-MCI Future Leaders Forum, organizer the IMEX Group announced yesterday.
Organized jointly by IMEX, Meeting Professionals International (MPI), and MCI Group, the annual event is designed to educate and support students who are studying meetings and conventions, tourism, or hospitality. The largest in a series of such forums held around the world throughout the year, the event will engage students in interactive education sessions led by industry experts on topics such as building business relationships and creating the right meetings environment.
A highlight of this year's forum will be the International University Challenge, a challenge that takes place at six Future Leaders Forums wherein students submit competing event proposals, the winner of which is chosen by a panel of judges who ultimately select one event to receive financial support to be produced. The IMEX Future Leaders Forum will host all six winners for a "finals" round, the champion of which will receive a scholarship from the MPI Foundation.
"The Future Leader Forums are now well-established and widely respected by employers, for whom they provide a prime opportunity to identify and nurture the most passionate and talented students and interns," IMEX Group CEO Carina Bauer said in a statement. "In collaboration with MPI and MCI, our goal is to support the development of the future generation of meeting and events industry professionals by delivering a program of valuable insight and education. We look forward to meeting future trailblazers at IMEX in Frankfurt!"
