The Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) announced today that 2006 will be the last year for The Super Show, its traditional annual event. In its place, the group will debut two distinctive industry shows next year.
While The Super Show was once a grand event in the trade show business, today’s sporting goods industry wants targeted, focused interaction. The SGMA Spring Marketand the SGMA Fall Marketwill each spotlight seasonal selling cycles and target retail segments which are critical to these cycles, yet geographically diverse. Both events will draw specialty and trend-setting retailers, independent, regional, and small retailers, and team dealers.
SGMA has contracted with Universal Event Management (UEM) of Braintree, MA, and Las Vegas, NV, to help launch these new signature events: SGMA Spring Market, to be held in Las Vegas in June 2007 and highlighting holiday and first-quarter deliveries; and SGMA Fall Market, to be held at an east coast destiantion in October 2007, and highlighting back-to-school and third-quarter deliveries. As the show manager, UEM will coordinate sales, marketing, programming, and logistics on behalf of SGMA. UEM Chairman and CEO Charlie Greco looks forward to helping SGMA foster a new climate of innovation, exchange, and education for their members.
