ICOMEX, a Mexico-based hosted-buyer event for meeting and incentive professionals, will be re-branded as IBTM Latin America, according to Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE), which acquired the event last year for inclusion in its IBTM portfolio of meetings-industry exhibitions.
According to RTE, becoming part of the IBTM portfolio will help ICOMEX increase its international profile and attendance. In turn, other IBTM events will benefit from the regional expertise of ICOMEX, whose team members in Mexico City will help recruit hosted buyers, attendees, and exhibitors for IBTM events worldwide.
"With the change of name, we are truly part of the international IBTM events portfolio and specifically we can now adopt many of the brand values that support each event," said IBTM Latin America Show Director David Hidalgo. "For example, the global themes for the IBTM knowledge program can be used specifically for our region, combining local and regional emphasis as well as an international flavor. Equally we will benefit from the expertise in delivery of world-class hosted buyer programs and have access to the IBTM and RTE sales network so that we can further grow our exhibitor and planner community."
ICOMEX 2015 is currently underway in Mexico City. Next year's event will be the inaugural IBTM Latin America.
