As announced last spring, the first annual AIBTM meetings trade show will be co-located with the Professional Convention Management Association's (PCMA) 2011 Education Conference when it debuts in Baltimore next summer. Even so, however, the two events will remain distinct and separate, AIBTM's organizer, Reed Travel Exhibitions, announced last week.
PCMA's meeting will take place June 20-23, while AIBTM will take place June 21-23. When AIBTM opens, therefore, the PCMA meeting already will be in full swing, according to AIBTM Project Manager Steve Knight, who said the first day of AIBTM will be an education day with sessions presented by the Convention Industry Council (CIC) and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE). The sessions will not be connected to PCMA's education offerings, Knight said.
Day two of AIBTM will be the opening day of its exhibition. While PCMA's meeting will continue that day, its attendees will have lunch on the show floor, according to Knight, and will be given time to walk the aisles. That evening, AIBTM will co-host a welcome party with PCMA and Visit Baltimore.
Because the PCMA meeting will end in the morning on the third and final day of AIBTM, buyers who attended it will have the opportunity to visit the AIBTM expo in the afternoon.
