The meetings industry is full of acronyms. To help meeting professionals decipher some of them, RecertTrack — an online certification tracking company based in Silver Spring, Md. — has published a new guide to association and meetings industry certifications, it announced last week.
Developed by RecertTrack Founder and CEO Cedric Calhoun, the “Guide to Association and Meetings Industry Certifications” is available for complimentary download this month via the RecertTrack portal for association and meeting professionals. Its goal is helping association and meeting professionals research professional certifications in order to determine which ones match their existing skills, and which ones will help them develop the skills they want to have in the future.
“Centralizing this valuable information allows individuals on a global scale to gain instant access to knowledge and information that will enable them to advance their careers,” Calhoun said in a statement. “I firmly believe that every individual pursuing a career in this industry should have access to this resource which will support their development.”
Several industry associations, including the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and the U.K. and Ireland chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), have endorsed the new resource.
“IAEE supports having a single organization in the exhibitions, events and meetings industry to track certification information and recertification credits,” said IAEE Vice President of Learning Experiences Marsha Flanagan. “We are excited that the CEM [Certified in Exhibition Management] designation is listed and support the value of this guide as a resource for professionals who are searching for clarification and want to ensure their professional development is on target.”
