In the latest MiMegasite.com poll, 78 percent of respondents said that they would consider joining an association related to the meeting-planning industry, such as Dallas-based Meeting Professionals International or Chicago-based Professional Convention Management Association.
Further, only 21 percent of respondents said that they refuse to join an industry association because they feel experience would not benefit them enough. And interestingly, not a single respondent said that they refuse to join an association because they don't plan on being in the meeting planning field for very long. That last answer was a bit surprising, because meeting planning is very often simply a job function rather than a full time endeavor--as a result, many planners tend to be involved in that task for only a few years before being promoted or moving into another position where meeting planning is not part of the job.
