Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE) announced yesterday that Paul Kennedy, its group exhibition director who oversees the company's meeting and incentive events, will step down from his position in mid August 2009.
"I have decided it's now time for a break from the amazingly fast paced environment involving almost constant overseas travel," Kennedy said in a statement. "Frankly I want to take some time out, re-energise and decide what I want to do next."
Since taking on the position in November 2004, Kennedy has reengineered and run the European Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition (EIBTM) in Barcelona, launched GIBTM in Abu Dhabi and prepared for the launch of the first Americas IBTM in Baltimore in 2010.
"I am very sad to see Paul leave us but after five years in this demanding job he has decided to spend the next stage of his career in part developing other business interests," said Richard Mortimore, managing director of RTE, in a statement. "Paul has considerably strengthened the relationships with industry leading association such as MPI, SITE, AIPC and ICCA and established a position of close engagement with industry stakeholders which will continue."
Mortimore also announced the appointment of Vanessa Cotton as Non Exec Chair to the meetings and events segment of the company. Cotton will provide support and assistance to the current meetings and incentive team while finding a successor to Kennedy.Source: Incentive Magazine
