PCMA's 55th Annual Meeting Sets Attendance Record

Its 55th Annual Meeting, Convening Leaders, set two new attendance records this year, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) announced yesterday. Held Jan. 9-12 in Las Vegas, the meeting hosted a record 3,743 attendees from more than 40 countries, a record 3,524 of which attended PCMA education sessions.

Meanwhile, 632 people participated in PCMA365, Convening Leaders' new virtual component, which included live broadcasts of PCMA's general sessions, video interviews with speakers, virtual networking opportunities, a "Partner Showcase" and an electronic resource center, as well as select plenary and "Masters Series" sessions.

"We could not be more thrilled with the attendance for Convening Leaders, for both the face-to-face, as well as the virtual meeting," said PCMA President and CEO Deborah Sexton. "PCMA has always been a leader in bringing cutting-edge ideas and education to the industry, and with the help of our industry partners, Freeman, INXPO and Content Management Corporation (CMC), we were able to demonstrate the possibilities and potential that exists with a virtual environment. In addition, our partners at the MGM Grand and the Las Vegas CVA provided the perfect backdrop to ensure our attendees' overall experience was truly both unique and memorable."

For the first time this year, the Virtual Edge Institute's Virtual Edge Summit was co-located with Convening Leaders on Jan. 12-13, offering a variety of education sessions designed to teach both the strategy and application of digital events.

"The co-location with PCMA's Convening Leaders event was very exciting and tremendously successful," said Virtual Edge Institute Executive Director Michael Doyle. "The Virtual Edge Summit and PCMA attendees have a great deal of synergy and we were very pleased at the number of PCMA members that registered for the Virtual Edge program. We're looking forward to working with PCMA in the future."

PCMA's 56th Annual Meeting will take place Jan. 8-11, 2012, in San Diego. For more information, visit www.pcma.org.
