A record-breaking 4,128 meeting planners and suppliers attended its 2015 "Convening Leaders" annual meeting, which took place Jan. 11-14 in Chicago, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) reported yesterday.

"This year's program was designed to challenge the most respected leaders in the industry to embrace the spirit of innovation and risk-taking," PCMA President and CO Deborah Sexton said in a statement. "Our audience showed that, without a doubt, they are ready to accept that challenge and elevate the next generation of meetings, conferences and events."

Included in PCMA's tally was virtual attendance at the PCMA Convening Leaders Hybrid Event, which celebrated its fifth anniversary this year by attracting more than 1,000 remote attendees.

"We made no little plans with our hybrid meeting," said Mary Reynolds Kane, PCMA's senior director of experience marketing. "This year, we streamed 13 sessions over three days for a full taste of what Convening Leaders offers."

PCMA already is gearing up for Convening Leaders 2016, which will take place Jan. 10-13, 2016, in Vancouver.
