PCMA Plans Experimental Education Format at Upcoming Conference

At its upcoming PCMA Education Conference, taking place June 22-25 in Toronto, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) will introduce a new, experimental education format, it announced yesterday.

The format — an “open-spaced learning” format developed in collaboration with George P. Johnson — will debut on the second day of the conference, the first day of which will feature a more traditional format with general-session speakers and breakout sessions. According to PCMA, it will include one room that plays host to the entire conference day, with nine distinct topic areas from which attendees can choose.

“PCMA is known throughout the industry for taking risks. It is something we pride ourselves on and our members expect from us,” PCMA President and CEO Deborah Sexton said in a statement. “By exploring and testing the success of this new education format and then enabling members to utilize the design for their own events, we believe the risk is well worth the reward.”
