Northstar Travel Media Hires New Publisher, Ups Investment in Custom Media

Successful Meetings' parent company, Northstar Travel Media of Secaucus, N.J., has hired Jack Grant as publisher for TravelAge West and associate publisher for Travel Weekly, it announced last week. As a result, former TravelAge West Publisher Michelle Rosenberg will now dedicate herself full-time to the role of vice president of the Marketing Solutions Group, Northstar's new custom publishing initiative, which provides tailor-made marketing solutions to travel industry vendors and marketers.

"We are extremely pleased with the strong market response to the launch of our Marketing Solutions Group earlier this year, and we are increasing our investment in the growth of this strategic new initiative," said Northstar Travel Media Chairman and CEO Tom Kemp.

Northstar Travel Media launched its Marketing Solutions Group this spring to offer travel-industry clients support in five key areas: technology platforms, events, research, creative services and social media management. The group's offerings currently include microsites, destination portals, education and certification programs, sales/booking promotions, loyalty platforms, mobile/tablet apps, newsletters, live events, road shows, benchmark and branding surveys, and social media reputation monitoring.

"Northstar and its individual media brands have always been recognized as leaders," Rosenberg said when Marketing Solutions was launched. "With Marketing Solutions we are taking our client relationships to the next level, allowing suppliers to ramp up quickly with a partner that understands their product, market, and competition."

Because Rosenberg is shifting her attention full-time to Marketing Solutions, Northstar has combined TravelAge West and Travel Weekly — previously under separate management — into a single business unit under the direction of Grant, who most recently served as vice president of integrated sales for Hachette Filipacchi Media, US. While each publication will maintain dedicated content, sales and marketing teams, they'll use the combined strength of their brands to grow Northstar's retail travel portfolio.

"We are delighted to have Jack join the Travel Weekly and TravelAge West team," said Bob Sullivan, executive vice president and group publisher of Northstar's Retail Travel Network, BTN Group and PhoCusWright. "He is a seasoned professional with a proven track record of success. His depth of experience and leadership will no doubt benefit our organization greatly."
