Nine DMOs Receive DMAP Accreditation

The Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) has awarded nine destination marketing organizations accreditation as part of its Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP), it announced today.

The accreditation, which recognizes organizations that meet or exceed industry standards—in areas as diverse as governance, finance, management, human resources, technology, visitor services, group services, sales, communications, destination development and more—was awarded to the following DMOs, who'll retain it until 2013:

• Baltimore Area CVA (Maryland)
• Bowling Green Area CVB (Kentucky)
• Discover Palm Beach County Inc. (Florida)
• Frisco CVB (Texas)
• Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce (South Carolina)
• Park City Chamber of Commerce & CVB (Utah)
• South Shore CVA (Indiana)
• Spokane Regional CVB (Washington)
• Springfield, MO CVB Inc. (Missouri)

"Being accredited assures members of the local DMO, local government officials, visitors and business partners that their trust is well-placed in the DMO," DMAI President and CEO Michael D. Gehrisch said in a statement. "It assures these groups that the city's tourism business is in good hands."

Currently, DMAI says, a total of 93 DMOs have received DMAP accreditation. For a complete list of accredited organizations, visit www.destinationmarketing.org and search keyword, "DMAP."
