New Event Management Firm, 54 Sports, Launches

Three former sports executives have launched a new sports and entertainment management firm that will provide meeting and event planning services to corporate clients, the company announced last week.

Called 54 Sports, the firm is based in Charlotte, N.C., and will specialize in “a 360-degree approach to planning and management of exclusive, VIP-type hospitality experiences at highly-desirable events,” including “inside the ropes” experiences, VIP access, celebrity meet and greets, and “member for the day” privileges at events such as the U.S. Open, the Masters and the Kentucky Derby, among others.

For corporate clients, the company will specialize in planning and managing client and employee appreciation events, as well as group events built around “exclusive sports experiences.”

“In that our team has extensive experience working with the event and meeting planner segment, we have a deep understanding as to what the needs and demands of this audience include,” says Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Robert Miller, co-founder of the company along with Chief Operating Officer Brandon Woods and CEO Mark Surles, whose collective background includes executive-level roles within the PGA TOUR CLUB and NASCAR. “We see opportunities to become a valuable resource to this segment as a result of our working in the sports space and having a broad network allowing us to access exclusive assets, opportunities, and experiences which are typically desirable to event and meeting planners and their clients.”
