Groups can now get realistic looks at the depths of the Pacific Ocean in the middle of Times Square at National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey, a first-in-kind entertainment experience.

A groundbreaking state-of-the-art venue, National Geographic Encounter provides groups with spectacular immersive undersea experiences, including deep sea dives from the South Pacific to the West Coast of North America. With an Academy-, Emmy-, and Grammy Award-winning team of designers and leaders in video and sound at the helm, this state-of-the-art facility and its private function space is available for corporate events, dinners, receptions and more for up to 1,000 people.

"National Geographic Encounter is transforming event décor while incorporating entertainment and attendee interaction in one unique location," says Karen Shackman, president of Shackman Associates New York, a corporate meeting, event and destination management company. "With interactive gaming challenges to encourage attendees to clean up their own areas of the ocean, and a CSR-driven pledge to help ocean-saving initiatives, guests can also engage with humpback whales, great white sharks, giant squid, sea lions, and other sea creatures in unique ways."

National Geographic Encounter is not exactly a museum, movie, or aquarium. The producers consulted with dozens of technologists and scientists to create a new kind of immersive experience that guests can walk through. Boasting immersive 3D media in 8K resolution at 60 frames per second, the technology creates an all-sensory entertainment experience in an undersea environment.

"It is thrilling to harness new innovations in media, technology and storytelling to bring to life this iconic brand in an entirely new and experiential way," says Lisa Truitt, chief creative officer and partner of SPE Partners, creators and producers of National Geographic Encounter.
