New York -- NYC & Company, the city's tourism and events marketing organization, today announced that it now operates 11 offices outside the United States, a doubling of its international presence within the past year.
The expanded international presence is part of the city's effort to attract 50 million visitors annually by 2015. A record 44 million people visited New York last year, according to municipal government estimates.
NYC & Company has recently opened offices in Spain; Russia; Scandinavia; and Amsterdam, which serves the Benelux countries of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
The renewed international effort follows the merger last June of NYC & Company with NYC Marketing and NYC Big Events.
