Minority Students Flock to UNLV's Hospitality Major, Magazine Reports

The Harrah Hotel College at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is home to the nation's most popular hospitality management degree for minority students, according to Diverse Issues in Higher Education magazine, which ranked UNLV first among 53 schools on its list of America's most diverse hospitality management programs.

According to the magazine, Harrah Hotel College awarded more degrees — 206, to be exact — to minority students than any other hospitality program in the nation from 2010 to 2011, including the largest number of hospitality degrees to African-American and Native-American students.

All told, 45 percent of UNLV's total undergraduate population in fall 2011 was a racial or ethnic minority, which earned the school a spot on U.S. News & World Report's list of the nation's most diverse universities for undergraduate students.
