Minneapolis CVB Loses CEO to Houston

Greg Ortale, president and CEO of the Minneapolis CVB and a 32-year industry veteran has resigned that position to head up the Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Meet Minneapolis, Official Convention & Visitors Association™, today announced that Ortale, resigning after leading the organization since its inception in 1987. He has accepted the position of president & CEO of the Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GHCVB), which he will assume on December 3.

“The Minneapolis product is stronger than ever. I will miss this great city and the talented people I work with on a daily basis,” said Ortale. “But it’s because of the depth and quality of the Meet Minneapolis staff that my departure will not impede the progress of the organization in pursuit of its core mission.” “Greg Ortale has made a permanent impression on this region,” said Meet Minneapolis Chair David Mona. “He’s been at the core of every major event we’ve been able to attract, from the Super Bowl and NCAA Final Fours to the upcoming Republican National Convention. He’s widely regarded as a national leader in this business, and the Meet Minneapolis Board will deeply miss his leadership, wise counsel and friendship.

Before coming to Minneapolis, Ortale spent eight years at the GHCVB from 1979 to 1987, serving as general manager and executive vice president.
