Meetings Veteran Christine Duffy Joins Philly's CVB Board

Corporate meetings expert Christine Duffy, president and CEO of Maritz Travel, has joined the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau's Board of Directors.

"Christine adds a level of expertise in the corporate meetings, events and incentive market that is unmatched in the country," Tom Muldoon, president of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, said in a statement.

Prior to 2001, when it was acquired by Maritz—one of the world's largest meeting, event and incentive travel management companies—Duffy was president and COO of McGettigan Partners. There, she proved herself a motivated and capable meetings professional, increasing company sales by more than 154 percent between 1996 and 2001.

"I am very excited to be joining the Board of Directors at the PCVB," Duffy said, "and I hope that my experience and expertise in the meetings industry will help bring business to the great city of Philadelphia."

An expert in industry trends, as well as meeting effectiveness, outsourcing and strategic meetings management, Duffy previously served on the Board of Directors for Meeting Professionals International (MPI), where she was chairwoman from 2005 until 2006. She founded MPI's Women's Leadership Initiative and has been recognized several times for her work within the industry—in 2008, for instance, as one of the St. Louis Business Journal's "25 Most Influential Business Women," and in 2007 as one of Business Travel News' "25 Most Influential Executives."
