MPI Eyes Membership Growth, Appoints First 'Vice President of Community'

Nicole Edmund has been appointed to fill the newly created role

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) already has a membership of 17,000 meeting and event professionals across more than 90 chapters and clubs in 19 countries. And yet, it believes it still has room to grow. With that in mind, it has appointed Nicole Edmund to fill the newly created role of vice president of community, it announced yesterday.

Edmunds -- who previously held leadership roles with the American Wind Energy Association, the National Retail Federation, and the National Association of Women Business Owners -- joins MPI from Women in Cable Telecommunications, where she was associate vice president of membership and chapter relations. In her new position, she will lead MPI's membership and chapter operations team with the goal of engaging, growing, and satisfying MPI's global community.

"Nicole has an impressive association background, and we believe her membership expertise and solid business operations and leadership experience will be critical assets as we advance MPI's strategic growth plans," said MPI President and CEO Paul Van Deventer. "Our team is very much looking forward to partnering with Nicole to further deliver value through our member experience and to our chapter leaders, who are the backbone of our association."

Edmund is the latest in several recent appointments at MPI. In November the association named Drew Homgreen as senior director of marketing and communications; in December it named Julie Holmen as director of business development in charge of Canada, Europe, and Asia; and yesterday it appointed Melissa Majors as the new director of the MPI Academy.
