More than 2,000 meeting, event and hospitality industry professionals attended its Affordable Meetings National Exhibition and Conference early this month in Washington, D.C., the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) announced last week.
On Sept. 8 and 9, the show — which showcases meeting venues, products and services — featured 28 educational seminars and more than 300 exhibitors. Collectively, those exhibitors had more than 300 appointments with individual meeting planners, who used HSMAI's One-to-One Meeting Concierge to schedule meetings with exhibitors before the event.
"With a strong turnout, attendees at Affordable Meetings National seemed especially impressed with the variety of exhibitors and educational seminars at this year's expo," said HSMAI Executive Vice President Fran Brasseux. "It is our goal to always attract the best planners, exhibitors and speakers. Once again, we are proud to say mission accomplished."
HSMAI, which every year honors exhibitors with special "best booth" awards, gave InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Washington, D.C.'s The Jefferson hotel its "Best Booth Overall" awards and Carlson Hotels Worldwide and the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau its "Best Onsite Booth Promotion/Marketing" awards.
