Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has formed a strategic partnership with Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), it announced yesterday. Under the terms of the partnership, MPI will provide education for meeting planners at select HSMAI events; HSMAI in return will provide training and professional development for suppliers at select MPI events.
As the relationship progresses, further collaborations — including, perhaps, joint membership — are planned.
"Our members are the heart and soul of MPI and we're thrilled to combine our extensive knowledge with HSMAI to offer more comprehensive events," said MPI COO and interim CEO Cindy D'Aoust. "This partnership allows us to better serve our supplier members and heightens the business value of our events for all members. This is a great step into MPI's future."
MPI and HSMAI's first joint effort is currently in progress at MPI's World Education Congress (WEC) — taking place July 28-31 in St. Louis — where suppliers can attend HSMAI education tracks focused on hotel sales and marketing. MPI will reciprocate by providing sessions at HSMAI's upcoming MEET National conference, taking place Sept. 5-6 in Washington, D.C.
"We are very excited to partner with MPI and expand our reach to meeting planners while in tandem supporting MPI as they strive to better serve their supplier members at events," said HSMAI Executive Vice President Fran Brasseux. "The relationship is a great complement that will increase knowledge offerings and drive business opportunities at our respective events."
