MPI Expands into Asia, South America

Dallas-based Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has launched new chapters in Korea and Brazil, it announced this month. The chapters, MPI's first in Asia and South America, are the result of efforts by meetings industry leaders in both countries, who have been working for the past year to advance continuing education opportunities for local professionals.

"These new chapters expand MPI's global footprint to South America and extends its presence in Asia," MPI President and CEO Bruce MacMillan said in a statement. "Building strong chapters is a key driver to growing our global community marketplace."

Currently, MPI Korea has 62 members, and hopes to have 112 by July 2009. MPI Brazil, meanwhile, currently has 53 members, and expects to increase its membership to 108 in 2009 and to 198 in 2010.
