IMEX Set to Break Attendance, Exhibit Records

Frankfurt, Germany -- As evidence of robust group travel worldwide, the giant IMEX meetings and incentive trade show, which opened here yesterday, is set to break its records for attendance and exhibit space.

Some 3,400 hosted buyers and several thousand trade visitors are expected to attend the three-day show, with the opportunity to meet with 3,300 exhibiting companies and organizations combined from 150 countries. Exhibit space is pegged at more than 177,000 net square feet.

The hotel sector exhibition is 30 per cent bigger this year over last year, attributed to 17 previous exhibitors increasing their booths and the addition of several new hotel brands, including Best Western and Rocco Forte. The Boston and Hawaii convention bureaus are also first-time exhibitors at IMEX.

On the attendee side, meetings-management companies from the United States include HelmsBriscoe, ConferenceDirect, and Carlson Companies.

IMEX is spotlighting environmentally sensitive, or green, practices this year. A display depicting best practices in green meetings is featured in the corporate responsibility center, and three awards are to be presented at the gala dinner.
