IMEX Group Launches 'IMEX America TV'

In advance of its first American trade show, taking place Oct. 11-13, 2011, in Las Vegas, the IMEX Group has collaborated with Convention News Television (CNTV) to launch IMEX America TV, an online video and TV channel dedicated to news about the new meetings industry megashow, it announced last week.

"We are thrilled to be working with IMEX to extend the life and reach of their show," said CNTV VP of Sales and Marketing Bill Peeper. "By producing daily news headlines, we are able to deliver information from the show floor instantly. Our videos will contain breaking news, industry trends and one-on-one interviews. We will also be delivering key messages from the IMEX America TV sponsors. We hope the international audience will see first-hand how powerful online video has become in the meetings industry."

Currently showcased on the TV channel is a series of eight interviews with IMEX Group Chairman Ray Bloom, as well as 12 video testimonials from meeting professionals who previously have attended the original IMEX in Frankfurt, which has been running there for the past nine years. During the show, the channel will broadcast live coverage from the trade show floor for meeting professionals who can't attend.

"The ability to deliver our message using video before the show and virtually live streamed film during the show in Las Vegas provides enormous benefits," Bloom said. "First it will bring the show's atmosphere and buzz to life. It also gives us a tremendously powerful marketing tool. But, more importantly, it provides an excellent platform for our exhibitors and partners to get their message across. This is just one of a number of additional online services we aim to launch over the coming months — all of them designed to provide added value to our exhibitors, and of course buyers."

Using "how to share" instructions that are posted there, news services, exhibitors, partners and other organizations are able to link to the IMEX America TV channel page to share their video content before, during and after the show.

"This gives us a tremendous opportunity to get ahead of the pack, to benefit from great visibility in the run-up to the show and, of course, during the week of IMEX America itself," said Kaaren Hamilton, vice president of global sales for Carlson Hotels, IMEX America TV's first corporate sponsor. "Video is such a dynamic medium and it will be a great way to express our passion for the industry and our positioning in the marketplace."
