IMEX Group Announces New Association Partnerships

The IMEX Group — organizer of the IMEX in Frankfurt and IMEX America trade shows — has expanded its association partnerships for 2014, it announced yesterday.

In Germany, the partnerships include a new relationship with the German Association of Scientific Medical Societies — which will co-locate a tax seminar on the morning of IMEX Association Day in Frankfurt so its members can attend Association Day events in the afternoon and evening — and the Association of German Travel Managers, which has agreed to market the Exclusively Corporate @IMEX day to its members to encourage them to attend as hosted buyers.

Other new partners include the Philippines Council for the Advancement of Association Executives, whose executive director will visit IMEX in Frankfurt in order to explore ways of working with the IMEX Group; European Cities Marketing (ECM), a longtime partner that has expanded its relationship with the IMEX Group in support of increased meetings industry advocacy; the International Special Events Society (ISES), which for the first time will co-locate its 2014 board meeting with IMEX America; and the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC) and Development Counsellors International (DCI), both of which will collaborate with the IMEX Group on a new study of generational differences in the meetings market.

Finally, two more associations are launching new awards at this year’s IMEX Gala Dinner, taking place in May as part of IMEX in Frankfurt: Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) will present a new “Destination Marketing Award” in recognition of a successful destination marketing or branding campaign while the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) will present a new, yet-to-be-titled award recognizing an individual or organization who has made “exceptional strides in creating, launching and managing an international event.”

“IMEX America and IMEX in Frankfurt have both been built on a strategy of forming close, mutually beneficial working relationships with key industry associations. Today’s announcements demonstrate that there is still plenty of scope for innovation and expansion at both the shows,” IMEX Group CEO Carina Bauer said in a statement. “We will continue to work with relevant, specialist groups to ensure that IMEX offers ‘something for everyone’ while maintaining clear focus on our ultimate purpose: to enable and create face-to-face business between buyers and exhibitors.”
