IMEX America Plans Inaugural 5k Run

Running - Race

Meeting planners are used to running around. At this year's IMEX America trade show, however, they'll be able to do it for fun, according to organizer the IMEX Group, which announced yesterday that it will host the first-ever IMEXrun Las Vegas on Oct. 14.

Kicking off at 6 a.m., the 5k run will begin and end at the Venetian's outdoor bridge and gondolas, and will pass partly along the Vegas Strip. At the end, a water and fresh fruit "reception" will give runners an opportunity to refuel before attending the IMEX America show, taking place Oct. 13-15 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center.

The run, which is open to all, is part of IMEX America's new "Be Well at IMEX" program, which aims to prioritize wellness among meeting professionals with a variety of wellness education sessions, a new meditation room, and an online wellness guide.

"As meetings professionals we are often on the road, so wellness is an important topic," IMEX Group CEO Carina Bauer said in a statement. "We think the IMEXrun Las Vegas captures the dynamic, caring, strong, and community-driven spirit of our industry, and will provide a fun and energizing way for people to kick off their second morning at the show."
