A full two years ahead of schedule, demand for space at IMEX America is such that the second annual meetings-industry trade show is expected to fill two halls of the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, the IMEX Group announced today.
Last year, the inaugural IMEX America took place in Hall C. This year, the show is expected to fill both Halls C and D thanks to a slew of new and returning exhibitors, many of which — including U.S. destinations such as Boston, Chicago, Memphis, New York and Denver; international destinations such as Argentina, Croatia, Costa Rica, Ireland and Scandinavia; and hotel groups such as Fairmont, Four Seasons, Hyatt, IHG, Loews, Mandarin Oriental and Starwood — already have booked larger booths.
"We've been pleasantly surprised to see such a high demand for booth space with eight months still to go before the next show," said IMEX Group Chairman Ray Bloom. "Of those exhibitors who have contracted since the start of the year, just over a third have doubled the size of their booth. It's a very positive start to the year and augurs well for the months ahead."
Like the show floor, the hosted buyer program at this year's IMEX America also is expected to be larger, according to the IMEX Group, which welcomed 2,000 hosted buyers at last year's show. Although it failed to provide a specific projection, it said it will be "significantly expanding" the size of this year's program with the help of hosted buyer group coordinators like Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and The Venetian and Palazzo hotels, each of which is bringing a larger group of hosted buyers to this year's event.
IMEX America 2012 is scheduled to take place Oct. 9-11 in Las Vegas. For more information, visit www.imexamerica.com.
