IMEX America Announces 2012 'Association Focus' Program

The "Association Focus" event at this year's IMEX America trade show will feature three different learning tracks for association professionals, offered by three different partner associations, the IMEX Group announced this week.

Part of IMEX America's "Smart Monday," the "conference within a conference" will occur on Monday, Oct. 8, preceding the three-day trade show that's taking place Oct. 9-11 in Las Vegas. An "executive" learning track will be led by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), a "global" learning track by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), and a "meetings" track by the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).

"Following our debut event last year we took on board a lot of feedback from the U.S. market," said IMEX Group CEO Carina Bauer. "Association Focus is just one of the building blocks of IMEX America that has been redeveloped since last year to improve and enhance the show. We are really excited to be welcoming around 200 association executives to Las Vegas for this event."

ASAE's senior learning track will include a three-hour "deep-dive" on "Managing Through Change." ICCA's global learning track, meanwhile, will offer two sessions, "Entering New Markets" and "Planning Global Meetings with a Focus on Asia." Finally, PCMA's meetings track will include two 1.5-hour sessions — "The Science and Fun of Creating Effective Learning" and "Meetings Go Mobile" — with two additional sessions offered by ASAE: a "Sustainability Safari" focused on green meetings and a virtual meetings session titled "The Strategic Impact of Digital Events on Meetings."

The Association Focus program also will include a choice of more than 20 different roundtable discussions across all three tracks, as well as a keynote address by Mark Sanborn, a member of the prestigious Speakers Roundtable that comprises 20 of the world's top speakers.
